During its long period of isolation the Celtic Church had developed in complete independence and had diverged considerably from the paths followed by Rome, not merely in matters of form and ritual, but more fundamentally in its whole organization. Might it not be possible to bring back those glorious times? Some of the arguments do not truly apply to conservative Reformed Christians, and Rose concedes this point, because they are aimed at theological errors arising from liberal tendencies.

Christ founded the Church, created its structure, placed Peter at the head, gave it his own authority, identified it with himself, promised to be with it forever, and sent his Spirit (the Holy Spirit) to guide it. On the other hand, the rest of the Australian church has not proved as difficult as prayer book revisers might have supposed. In the ‘79 version that word is not used once; in its place are substituted two words “full initiation.” (cf. p. 298) Upon an admittedly hasty reading of the ‘79 Service, I failed to find the word or the concept of Regeneration.

As I deeply contemplated upon this prayer over time, I continually asked for divine assistance in coming to a place of inner gnosis whereby I might FEEL this prayer as Jesus had intended for it to be felt. His coming (August, 1522) was like the descent of a cloud upon Rome; it was like an eclipse at noonday. Yet the Protestant reformers, despite making the most drastic changes to the Catholic Church since its founding, have never shown a miracle or any other sign to prove their mission, as would have occurred elsewhere in Scripture with such a drastic change to the faith.
