Charismatics, on the other hand, are told never to question the validity of their experiences. Therefore, the opinion hereby expressed is dispassionate. His "long suit," however, was sanctification. The startling fact of the crumbling of Protestant resistance to Pentecostalism illustrates the decadence of the Protestant churches. Ronald Knox, however, speaks of an earlier reappearance in Presbyterian Edward Irving's congregation in the 1830's. Instead, isolated Christian groups were experiencing charismatic phenomena such as divine healing and speaking in tongues.

Sydney Scholes, Henri Archim and Stephen Westfall were also missionaries from USA who lived in the Gold Coast for varied periods to contribute to the development of the church. The liberal emphasis of the social gospel on improving society dovetailed with the well-known postmillennial eschatology that gained stature through the preaching of Jonathan Edwards (1703-1758). His premillennialism brought him into contact with the growing number whose convictions were moving in that direction and led him to accept the invitation of Henry Drummond (d. 1860) (Drummond later became an Irvingite leader.

Christian Assemblies [Europe] International, which is "Pentecostal" in influence, consists of house groups, which provide the support and fellowship within which each new-born Christian can learn of God's Ways for their new life.

Many have assumed that these new churches are conservative, if not fundamentalist, in their views on these issues. Thus, if Genesis 1 says that God created the world in 6 days, this should be understood as 6 consecutive solar days (24hour days) which according to the calculations derived from adding up the Biblical genealogies indicates that the earth was created around 4004BC. Pentecostalism is effective; Anglicanism is effective.

I thought it was interesting when you said that you see the Pentecostal movement as no more Protestant than it is Catholic. Release your mind release your spirit and let the mighty river of the "Holy Ghost" take you wherever He wants you to go." (Revival ... or Satanic Counterfeit?, Jimmy Robbins, 1996) Steve Hill said "Don't analyze this "move of God", and you had better receive it if you don't want a stamp of disapproval from Jesus." (Neal & Darlenn H visit to Brownsville AOG., 2/19/97) Steve Hill said "In these latter days preaching and simply teaching the word is no longer sufficient, the Spirit has to get involved, through signs and wonders due to much sin that abounds." The true charismata, present in the early Church, are examples of these extraordinary phenomena. Evangelical is the term used to describe those who affirm the primary doctrines revealed in the Scriptures. To say that an unbaptized person who has experienced this "Baptism in the Holy Spirit" is somehow as close to God as (or even closer than) a pious, baptized Catholic who has never had such an experience is clearly absurd.

No amount of effort can manipulate this, but there have been times when pronouncing the benediction such a tangible sense of God's presence descended upon the congregation that we just sat in reverent silence and sort of "soaked" in the moment. The doctrine of Spirit baptism with accompanying speaking in tongues has been the lynch pin of the Pentecostal movement, and I never want to minimize that. Many strange and bizarre doctrines are either being revived, such as the “Manifest Sons of God” teaching, or are being introduced as a result of new “prophecies.” And naturally so, when Scripture is replaced by so-called prophecies, foolish, false, damnable doctrines will result.
